THEATRE CLASSES

NOTES for You & for Myself

I started this site for myself and not even on my University server, so I don't have to worry about political correctness and copyright law. I thought it will be a freestyle Theatre Page. My actual students are now required to use this site and therefore I'm creating a separate page for each class I teach. Go there for your assignments and feel free to explore other pages.

My old Theatre Front Page. If you want to read my plays, go to the Russian Page PLAYS.

What we have here is the INSTRUCTIONAL PAGES on THEATRE Directing

PART I. ACTING

RAT
St. Petersburg, Russia, 1993
If you are in my classes, go directly to your course page. The rest of the pages will be connected from within your class assignments. FUNDAMENTALS OF ACTING -- MONOLOGUE, SCENE, IMPROV. ANALYSIS. FLOOR PLAN. MOVEMENT. CAMERA. Intro-Acting course, required for all theatre and film majors, and gives you 3 credits in Humanities. Also, counts as 3 credits for film minor (Next offer: Summer II and Fall 1998) INTERMEDIATE ACTING 221 -- SCENES.

PART II. 3D THOUGHTS: FILM DIRECTING
Director is an image-maker and any image is a final form of expressed thought. Directing as easy as writing poetry. All you need to know is a language. That's where the confusion is -- what language? (Directors for the Winter Short, read it!)

331 -- FUNDAMENTALS OF STAGE & VIDEO DIRECTING (THR 121 pre-requisite)

Film majors, save our class-time. You can read the Film600
For directors (majors) -- Stage-metrics, Theory. This Meyerhold's theory is practically unknown in classrooms. Since we never have enough time I posted my notes for directing classes.
The second part -- Film. Only basics. For film theory go to the FILM WEB PAGE

PART III. WORDS & PAUSES. DRAMATIC STRUCTURE

Playwrighting and Playscript Analysis.
PART IV. MY HOME-OFFICE
... FILM-THOUGHT at TRIPOD. Family profile -- African Page and AMERICAN SITE at DELPHI.
Anatoly has directed many shows at UAF. He received his MFA from the Moscow Institute of Cinematography, and won several awards in drama. The the USA, he has taught and directed in many universities and colleges. In 1994 as a Fulbright scholar he was a head of the Russian American Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Do you want to link? God only knows how did I become an editor for this new search engine? My category: Directing

No shows, entertainment, Broadway and etc. Only for Directing -- Go there and add your URL
