To all of you, Rasta family, who supported us and kept the name of Haile Sellassie alive when the great powers and Ethiopia omited HIM from their records, thank you.
JAH: King, Man & God
To those of you who are troubled that on our pages we state that 1999 is the year of the 25 years after his HIM death, remember this two-thousand-year-old story. Chrucifixion made Jesus into Christ. Haile Sellassie as Emperor and man died imprisoned and at the hands of his own people for us to understand the mystery of relations between Man and God.
Don't be impatient as Garvey. Christ didn't perform miracles on the cross and Haile Sellassie didn't deliver the final victory, because it has to be done by you. Each one of us has to do it.
We are getting a lot of messages and can't answer them all and the only answer I can give you is what I write on our pages. There is one question that keeps coming -- Was Haile Sellassie a Rastafarian?
Think about it -- Was Christ a Christian? Even Marx said that he is Marx and not a Marxist. Did he have to name himself? He had plenty of titles. Rasta is the way of living, not a religion, church or party. It doesn't need priests, authorities and leaders. The one who says that he knows what Jah is, knows nothing. If you believe in reasoning, you believe that knowing is ahead, not behind.
Do you really want to know the answers you seek? Go inside yourself. I never met anyone who believed in nothing, but of those who wanted to get some name to their faith. I never understood why? Why would one call himself a Buddhist or Christian when there is no pressure on him to cast himself into one organization or another? How this name can help you when you pray? Does it matter how you cross yourself addressing your thoughts to God? Is there any moment in your day when you can't call for help? I have no name for myself, how could I name God? Children are not born Muslim or Jewish, but God is present in them. Why each child's birth is not the birth of Christ, Mahhamed or Buddha? How could I know it and can decide it? What are my reasons to impose my judgement that they are not? How can I assume such a resposibility and be so arrogant that to say that this child is not God who came to this world in flesh and blood? I am not Roman, Jew, Catholic, Orthodox and the rest to prejudge this new life. I say God is born. I leave it up to this new life to judge itself. Let him or her judge who she or he is. Let them be free in their judgement and choices, but I have no other choice but to say -- God. What for would this new face come into existence? We have enough people, citizens and consumers. Do I know who Jah is? No, I don't know him, who is born this very moment when you read this text. Do you know his fate? Who can tell me how he will grow and will change the world? Only he will know when he is ready to know. Treat him as God and see what will happen...
We can't -- that's how much God is in us....
