"If Ethiopia's history and archeological treasures could be marketed, dug out like diamonds and somehow sold, I speculate, this country would be rich!". -- Judith Reynolds Brown "Faranji: A Venture into Ethiopia"
Remember, sellassie pages (and my film and theatre instructional sites)
are only notes. Not scholastic papers (only once we went to "Italy and Africa" conference).
As the domain name indicates (sellassie.ourfamily.com), this "ourfamily" depository,
although in the case of Sellaseie I understand "family" much broader.
Oh, I stated the reasons for making the sellassie webpages too many times...
Sir Henry Rawlinson: "Recent linguistic discovery tends to show that a Cushite or Ethiopian race did in the earliest times extend itself along the shores of the Southern Ocean from Abyssinia to India. The whole peninsula of India was peopled by a race of their character before the influx of the Aryans; it extended from the Indus along the seacoast through the modern Beluchistan and Kerman, which was the proper country of the Asiatic Ethiopians; the cities on the northern shores of the Persian Gulf are shown by the brick inscriptions found among their ruins to have belonged to this race; it was dominant in Susiana and Babylonia, until overpowered in the one country by Aryan, in the other by Semitic intrusion; it can be traced both by dialect and tradition throughout the whole south coast of the Arabian peninsula."
History Directory
Some of the history pages ared moved to FAMILY or POLTICS directory. 2004
This is an intro page for history directory.
I move "crown" directory to family pages.
NTL, some "monarchy" pages are here -- royal past was the history of Ethiopia and still is her cultural heritage.
I do not think that monarchy could be a political force (see politics directory),
but it could and should be a cultural link between the past and the future.
Many country's problems are over-politized. Traditions, culture, even food are more powerful than we think...

If you read my nonfiction (HIM and other web-books),
you understand that I believe in the "end of history" -- 20th century did the same with Russia (Father-Russia), or any America (Post-America).
Ethiopia is no exception. How much do we understand it?
Not much. Too close to home. To soon to notice. We are not ready for this New Age.
In short, "history" is our ancient past. Im my view, Haile Sellassie's death is the line between the past and the future.
"1975" is much more closer to "1950," than to "2000" -- in fact, these dates belong to completely different eras.
Keep it in mind, when you read "history" pages...
