Sellassie Cyber University? The purpose of this site and other Sellassie Family sites is simple.To have as much information on Haile Sellassie and, yes, Ethiopia, as possible avaliable to the public. A year ago it began as our small family home page, but the demand and the thousands years of history asked for more pages. And more.
The Cyber Revolution made information ready accessable. All what we do is making a window to Ethiopia who anybody who wants to see.

Haile Sellassie established the first Ethiopian University in Addis Ababa and till the revolution it was known as Haile Sellassie University. Following the task we would like the Sellassie Cyber University to be for all who want to study Ethiopia, Africa and History.This page is for school and college students, but who said that you have to be in school in order to learn?

Of course, the scop of our interest is limited. NTL, the idea was to offer some guide in the new cyber space of Ethiopian studies. ( The "e" stands for "Ethiopian" and "Electronic" ) Or, at least, to make "Ethiopian" (as a part of the Haile Sellassie memorial) present in electronic space.
Do not expect much from our pages. Not much power behind it. Or money. It was nothing but labor of love.
There are several good programs in US and Europe if you seeking a degree in Ethiopian Studies. Nevertheless, the interest declined since the end of the Cold War. Maybe it won't be revived till the big business begins to invest in Africa. There are some inportant things are missing -- the political stability and the work force. The two are connected and the connection is EDUCATION.
Ethiopian history is one of the best known in African and maybe even in the world history and at the same time we know very little about this country. How do the old habbits and traditions apply to the contemporary situation in Ethiopia? The past was denounced many times and two generations of Ethiopians claim that they are new. Take a closer look and you will notice that many old institutions are in there under the new names. Nothing new in the ethnic policy under the name "Federation"... nothing new about the military rule...
Maybe it's time for a new study of the old.
